The model instrument is part of the collection of the “Conservatorio Benedetto Marcello” in Venice and bears a label attributing it to Santo Serafino. However, based on stylistic comparisons this attribution is questionable. Nevertheless, it is most likely a Venetian instrument from the period to which it is attributed, and with the exception of the tailpiece and bridge, all parts are in their original condition. It is strung with seven playing strings and seven resonance strings.
