The instrument is privately owned but has been modified to conform to modern playing practices. In the process, the neck was re-jointed, and the original components were lost. However, the body's outline was neither altered nor reduced in size, as was often the case with cellos from the early 18th century. In the replica, the dimensions and components are reconstructed based on historical models of Venetian violin making.
